The National Marine Fisheries Service is known for making critical mistakes that adversely affect recreational anglers. These constant mistakes and the total lack of accountability by those who work for the NMFS provide solid evidence they are not capable of managing recreational fisheries. These mistakes have constantly created fishery closures that prevent anglers from enjoying recreational fishing. Here is the latest screw up and although it provides anglers the opportunity to fish for and keep greater amberjack and trigger fish for the first 15 days of January '18 and great amberjack through January 26, 2018, the January harvest will most likely come back to reduce quots for these species later in the year costing anglers more days of fishing.
Due to the failure of the NMFS to implement new regulations on greater amberjack and trigger fish to be effective by January 1, 2018 and those rules becoming effective later in the month, the great amberjack and trigger fish seasons will open January 1 at the old regulations. Trigger fish will remain open through 1-15-18 at 2 fish per person and 14" size limit. Greater amberjack will remain open through 1-26-18 at 1 fish per person at 34". This means we are open for business to target these species as of 1-1-18.
Call us at 850-763-7249 or email at email@example.com for special rates to catch these fish. The minimum trip is 6 hours but we offer 8 and 10 hour trips as well. We accommodate small and large parties and we will also target vermilion snapper, red porgie and red grouper. Trigger fish will not be open again until March 1 and greater amberjack will not open again until May 1. This is a great opportunity to come get in some early season fishing on the LEO TOO fishing out of Panama City Beach from Capt Anderson's Marina behind Capt Anderson's Restaurant.
