Recently some have been calling about their booked trips and alleged weather conditions when their trip is scheduled days in advance. Most, if not all of these concerns are by watching the weather channel. The folks at the weather channel know little about our local weather and do not explain the difference in weather patterns along the coast vs inland. The weather channel is also in the business of selling advertisements for income and by creating concerns to folks to keep them watching helps in their selling of ads. Coastal weather is different than inland weather as the heat of the day sometimes produces small rain events and even a small thunderstorm now and then. In most cases, as was the case today, sea conditions were slick calm, there was no rain out to 30 miles offshore, but there were a few local showers inland from the beach. This was a typical weather day for the summer season in Panama City, FL. Being on the water here for 56 years I am well aware of the type weather we have and i make the decision on if weather is a factor to cancel a trip or not on the day of the trip. If sea conditions are too rough for an enjoyable trip I will cancel and reschedule if possible. Rain does not cause cancellation of trips. If you have a trip booked and are concerned about the weather you can contact me and I will do my best to provide you the info that will be the real weather here, not that of the people in business to sell ads. I want to notify everyone who is interested in making reservations for fishing. Like most everything in the country the COVID issue has impacted our fishing reservations and availability. I thought last year was an abnormally since may people could not travel until the end of May or later and we experienced a rush of fishing reservations early with the LEO TOO booked 6 weeks in advance. This has never happened before in our 56 years of being in the charter fishing business. We had to turn down may folks who wanted to fish, some wanting reservations a week or two later, some wanting to fish in the next day or two. We assumed that this year things would fall back to the old norm but that has not happened. In fact folks have been making reservations for June and July and into August since early in the year. We are currently fully booked for all of June and except for 4 days at the end of July all of July. August is beginning to fill up.
I am notifying everyone that if you want to fish or planning a trip to Panama City this summer you need to figure out when you will be here and when you would like to fish. In order to assure we will be open you need to make plans early. For 2022 I suggest that everyone who wants to fish and plan a trip to Panama City you need to plan early to assure you get a date you want or at all. After this year and last we feel that current situation with so many wanting reservations will continue into next year. We hope this info provides you with good information so that you don't lose an opportunity to enjoy a fun fishing trip with us. Thanks, and again, plan early!
